Açai (Ah-sigh-ee)

Acerola (As-uh-roh-luh)


left-image-acerolaAlso known as the “Barbados Cherry,” this juicy, bright red fruit, cherry-like in size, is widely used to enrich the vitamin content of other fruits, where the ascorbic acid also acts as an antioxidant and natural preservative. Much more sour than sweet in flavor, it also has a very high vitamin C content.

A member of the chocolate family, cupuaçu can replace cocoa in many day-to-day foods, especially for children, such as chocolate milk. Known for its creamy tasting pulp, cupuaçu is frequently used in desserts, juices and sweets. Cupuaçu seeds can be made into cupulate, which looks and tastes just like chocolate, but is cheaper and more resistant to heat. The pulp is also used throughout Brazil and Peru to make fresh juice, ice cream, jam and tarts.

Camu Camu


product-camu-camuCamu camu is a small, red/purple cherry-like fruit native to the Amazonian floodplains of Brazil and Peru. With 30-60 times more vitamin C than an orange, camu camu has the highest concentration of vitamin C of any other known fruit in the world. It also contains amino acids and is rich in flavonoids. In addition to its antioxidant properties, camu camu contains high levels of beta carotene, iron, niacin, phosphorus, riboflavin, and thiamin. With all these benefits, camu camu is a well-rounded addition to any nutritional beverage or gel product.
